Alderman Forum Transcripts Now Available
We have uploaded a transcript of the Alderman Candidates Forum. This transcript was painstakingly transcribed using the video of the Forum. We had issues getting the Alderman Candidates Forum video posted as it is on a different camera then the Mayor Candidates. The camera used for the Alderman is older and did not have the best sound quality. Please consider this as you read the transcript. As with anything in life you should not base your decision off of one piece of information but of several sources. We did the best we could to make this as accurate as possible while getting it up the fastest we could. If you notice errors please let us know.

Videos on Youtube soon!
I am in the process of chopping down and posting the first parts of the Forum to youtube. I have created us our own channel. Keep an eye out for new videos here: http://www.youtube.com/PVcandidateForum
UPDATE June 7th 9:52 AM: So far I have only been able to get the first 10 minutes or so up. These are huge files and youtube has some limitations (along with my Internet Service Provider). I am trying to get them up as fast as I can so please be patient. I had hoped to have these done before early voting starts but obviously that is not the case.

Thank you to everyone who helped with the Forum. I feel it was a great success. Thank you to everyone who came out and to the Candidates who participated. We had all but 2 candidates show up (Peter Wright and Tim Barnwell who are both running for Mayor). I am working on getting the videos posted however that may take some time as they are HUGE files.
Thank you again.
Thank you again.

Forum Guidelines and Itinerary
Below is a link to a rough guideline on the flow of the Forum. Right now assuming everyone shows up and we stick to the time the Forum will last 2.5 hours (30 minutes over allowed time). We should be able to cut into this time since not every candidate will talk for the full 2 minutes allowed per question. We did our best on cutting this down as short as we could however we felt cutting anything else out would be a disservice to the Candidates and the Citizens of Providence Village.
Thank you.

Candidate Information Sheets Now Available
We have compiled a very brief bio on each candidate. We have uploaded them to this blog site through a link at the top of the blog. These are in the same order as the list we received from the Denton County Elections Office. At this time two candidates did not turn in a bio (Ken Winzen Sr. and Peter Wright). Mr. Winzen has committed to having us his soon which we will add when we receive it and Mr. Wright sent us a message stating he has "withdrawn". We will have a limited number of print-outs available at the forum to pass out as well.
If you have any troubles with the link above please fee free to contact us at PVCandidateForum@gmail.com. Thank you.
UPDATE: June 4th, 2010 10:30 am - I have added Ken Winzen Sr.'s bio to the document and updated the links. The old link is still active however it has been removed from the site. Thank you.

Answers for Anonymous
We received some general questions from an Anonymous poster and felt everyone may benefit from the answers. So here they are:
Questions: How many council members make up the City Council? What is the duration of a term of service? What are the, or are there, term limits? Will a background check be performed on all candidates? Must a council member be a homeowner in Providence Village? Must a council member be a resident of PV?
The June 19th election will determine a mayor and 5 aldermen for the Providence Village Town Council.
According to Local Government Code 22.34c, "If the municipality is not divided into wards, the governing body by ordinance may determine the number and the manner of deciding which aldermen elected at the initial election for officers serve for one year and which serve for two years." Elected town council members determine their town's term limit ordinances as well.
Candidates check a box on their filing applications stating they have not been convicted of a felony. Denton County and the Texas Secretary of State's Office do not perform background checks or verify the accuracy of the candidates' statements unless the statements are challenged.
It is not required to be a homeowner within Providence to serve on the Town Council but candidates must reside here.
Thanks for asking - please include your name and street in an email to PVcandidateforum@gmail.com if you'd like your questions asked at the June 5th forum.
